HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE WEEK
On the occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day 2020, the Jewish Museum Lecce presents the following events:
JANUARY 25th - 6.00 pm - Meeting with Attilio Lattes, Shoah’s witness
Presentation of the book Il Bambino nascosto a Roma by Attilio Lattes, edited by Donato Maglio, Congedo Editore.Introduction: Fabrizio Lelli (Director of the Jewish Museum of Lecce and professor of Hebrew language and literature, University of Salento).
JANUARY 26th - 7.30 pm - Impressioni di viaggio nell’Europa Orientale
Concert of traditional music by Eleonora Carbone (harp) and Asia Macchia (violin), in cooperation with Loft Music School. This will be followed by a kosher wine tasting by Cantine Leuci.
JANUARY 27th - HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY
5.00 pm - Guided tour of the Museum and the Jewish Quarter of Lecce by Fabrizio Lelli (Director of the Jewish Museum of Lecce and professor of Hebrew language and literature, University of Salento).
6.30 pm - Recovery of memory and places of Judaism in Lecce by Francesco Gabellone (Researcher - National Research Council). Speakers: Fabrizio Ghio (Architect and member of the scientific committee of the Jewish Museum of Lecce) and Fabrizio Lelli (Director of the Jewish Museum of Lecce and professor of Hebrew language and literature, University of Salento). Followed by a pomegranate tea tasting offered by Melograni Martino.
JANUARY 26th - 6.00 pm - PASS OVER INTO SALENTO
Theatre show written, directed and performed by Giustina De Iaco, in cooperation with Ass. Teatro dell’Argo. This will be followed by a kosher wine tasting by Cantine Leuci.
Esther is a Holocaust survivor. She tries to outlive her rebirth in the Displaced Persons Camps 34 and 39 in Salento. What was her destiny? What is it now? What will it be? She is seeking an answer to her questions in memories, in the land that welcomes her and in the hope of the promised land beyond the sea. She will find it in Salento.
JANUARY 30th - 9.30 am - Remembrance Bus
A 50 seat bus provided by Chiriatti Viaggi will connect the Jewish Museum of Lecce and the city of Manduria. Download the flyer.
RESERVATION REQUIRED - Entrance with Super Green Pass. The events will take place in compliance with the current anti-Covid regulations.
